TOLSTOY'U TEHDİT/ THREATENING TOLSTOY – Tarık Günersel / ZeplinArt

Bilge anarşist yazar Lev Tolstoy eserleri, sömürü ve dogmalara karşı çıkışı, soru ve savları ile hep güncel bir hazine. Pek çok kişi ve kaynaktan, örnekse Rig Veda, Laozi ve Henry David Thoreau’dan etkilendi; Gandhi gibi değerleri etkiledi. Eleştirdiği Kilise tarafından dışlandı, din adına ölümle tehdit edildi. ZeplinArt, Tarık Günersel’in yarım yüzyıldır yazdığı Sinyaller adlı mozaik destanı sizinle buluşturmayı sürdürüyor. Tolstoy'u Tehdit Tesla, Nietzsche ve Seneca portreleri ile farklı türlerdeki başka eserleri de içeren kapsamlı destanın on birinci parçası. Günersel eseri 2008’de piyes olarak Türkçe yazmış, 2026’da İngilizce novella olarak işlemiştir. The wise anarchist writer Leo Tolstoy remains a living treasure through his works, his opposition to exploitation and dogma, and his questions and arguments. Influenced by many people and sources—including the Rig Veda, Laozi, and Henry David Thoreau—he in turn influenced values embraced by figures such as Gandhi. He was ostracised by the Church he criticised and threatened with death in the name of religion. His writings were censored under both the Tsarist and Soviet regimes. Readers gained access to his complete works only in the late 1980s, during the Gorbachev era.

The great-hearted pen of world history is with us: through his wife Sophia Tolstaya, his daughter Sasha, Tsar Alexander III, the young revolutionary Anton, the American journalist and translator Isabel Hapgood, the jealousy-provoking composer Taneyev, his editor Chertkov, and even a secret policeman. Threatening Tolstoy / Tolstoy'u Tehdit is a bio-novella woven from history, ideas, humour, conflicted lives, and questions that remain relevant today. It also embraces Türkiye as part of Tolstoy’s wider human story.

ZeplinArt continues to bring readers Signals, the mosaic epic that Tarık Günersel has been writing for over half a century. Threatening Tolstoy is the eleventh fragment of this ambitious work, which also includes portraits of Tesla, Nietzsche, and Seneca, along with works in various literary forms. It began as a Turkish play in 2008 and was reimagined by Günersel as an English novella in 2026. Published in English as part of our International Series, it follows Flashes of Nikola Tesla. A Turkish edition is forthcoming.
